My attempt at Dancin' On My Grave

Postby markrocka » Wed Jul 12, 2017 9:09 am

Ben doesn't have a lesson for this Purple Hulls song, but I really like it, so I have attempted to create a reasonable facsimile. Please critique my attempt and let me know where I might be able to improve it. I know the very end way up on the neck is a bit muted. I don't have a Bb fret spike for the 5th string, so I have to fret the 5th one fret up from where Ben does. Sometimes I can make it sound clean. Usually not. Gonna have to get another spike. :)

Real nice picking Mark!

I stayed up all night to see where the sun went. Then it dawned on me.

Thanks, guys! Still working on cleaning it up and playing more efficiently.

I have Ben's recent Red Haired Boy contest to thank for my renewed interest in picking. Feels good to be excited about it again. :)

Thanks guys! Yeah, I love that song, too. That's why I had to learn it.

I guess, technically, I've been playing for 31 years. I took 6 months worth of banjo lessons when I was 13 years old. When my teacher moved away, we couldn't find anyone else to continue with, so I've been playing the same 6 or 7 songs the whole time. I didn't learn anything new until I joined Ben's site last August.

It feels really good getting back to my first instrument after all these years. I think I enjoy playing banjo more than any other instrument.
